Samarkand State University enters QS Top 300 for modern languages
Samarkand State University has been ranked in the 251–300 band for modern languages in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 results. A ceremonial event titled "Linguistic Victory: A Historic Step in the International Rankings" was held to mark the achievement.
The event was opened by First Vice - Rector for Academic Affairs Ahmadjon Soliev. Vice-Rector for Research andInnovation, Hakim Khushvaktov, read out a congratulatory message from the university's rector, Rustam Kholmurodov, an Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. The message highlighted the university's significant progress in recent years across education reforms, international cooperation, scientific research, and globalrankings.
A special certificate confirming the ranking was presented to Juliboy Eltazarov, Director of the Institute of Languages and Cultures of the Peoples of Central Asia. In his remarks, Eltazarov outlined the scientific activities and achievements of the institute's scholars, teachers, researchers, and broader academic community. Nurali Hamidov, Deputy Director of the institute, delivered a presentation titled "Top 300: Academic Excellence and International Prestige," explaining approaches to successful participation in the "Linguistics" subject ranking through the use of digital technologies. Professor Ibodulla Mirzaev, Head of the Department of Applied Linguistics and Methods of Teaching Uzbek Language and Literature, also delivered congratulatory remarks.
During the event, professors and teaching staff who made notable contributions to the achievement were awarded letters of appreciation from the rector.
