Uzbekistan plans to increase pharmaceutical trade with Afghanistan to $500 million, the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry said.

The agency’s director, Abdulla Azizov, met with Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nuriddin Azizi, during a working visit to Kabul. During the talks, both sides highlighted the high quality and strong competitiveness of Uzbek pharmaceutical products, identifying increased trade volumes as a key priority.

To achieve this target, the need to establish a joint operational working group was noted. Proposals were also put forward to develop cooperation in Afghanistan based on Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards, as well as to establish direct cooperation with major distributors.

The parties also stressed the importanceof forming a technical working group, strengthening information exchange, and signing bilateral cooperation agreements in the near future.
